Galerie Alan Klinkhoff is an evolution of Galerie Walter Klinkhoff, which was founded in 1950 by Walter (deceased in 1997) and Gertrude Klinkhoff. We specialize in the purchase and sale of fine artwork by important Canadian artists, including 19th and early 20th century artists, the Canadian Impressionists, Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven, contemporaries of the Group of Seven and independents, members of the Beaver Hall Hill Group, the Canadian Group of Painters, the Contemporary Arts Society, Les Automatistes, Primitive Quebec Artists, other important artists of the post-War period. Galerie Alan Klinkhoff also specializes in works by investment quality Contemporary Artists. In addition, we have a lengthy tradition in the sale of artwork by a selection important European artists. Today Alan, Jonathan and Craig Klinkhoff handle the day-to-day affairs of the Gallery.
Serving as merchants and advisors, the Klinkhoff family was instrumental in helping to assemble some of Canada’s most prominent private collections, including the collections of the late Kenneth Thomson, the late Michael Dunn, the late R. Fraser Elliott, the late John MacAuley, among many others. We have also served as advisors to several important corporate collectors, including among others, Power Corporation of Canada, Canada Steamship Lines and Imperial Oil. In addition, paintings sold by the Klinkhoffs can be found in most major Canadian museums, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Musée national des Beaux-Arts du Québec (Quebec Museum), the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the McMichael Collection, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and others.
Over more than 60 years, the Klinkhoff family has worked directly with many artists of significant interest and also been associated with the Estates of many important artists.
